Mise en Scene: Lighting and Framing
1. Lighting helps set the scene as it helps set the mood, tone, or theme. This also changes while something is being filmed. An example that shows how lighting is integral to the scene is how in this scene of "The Joker" you see how the dark drastic lighting highlights the joker with a more sinister look that builds on to his character.
2. Framing is the method of filming or creating a film or show using realistic features that relate to the real world, and a frame is the concept of the real world set into the film that captures the moment that allows to tell the story. An example of framing is this scene in Criminal Minds, the frame is this two shot of two forensic analysists gathering evidence which helps tell us more about the story.
