How Media Ownership affects how movies are made
- The arguments against media ownership by fewer and fewer companies have caused disputes among those who criticize the deregulation of the media and the consequent concentration of ownership. It raises concerns that it further reduces the public accountability of informants. Because fewer and fewer owners control the majority of media, this creates limited competition where a few companies dominate the media market.
- The extent to which bigger is always better does go pretty far when advertising through media. In movies involving a product from a specific brand can make a huge difference on the number of sales that business can make. Films are one of the biggest and most effective ways a product can start trending. However, in some cases companies can be smart in their use through advertising when it doesn't have to be big at all. For example, when Netflix had to market Tim Burton's live action series “Wednesday” they made an official Twitter account for Wednesday Addams. The account has tweeted out a short promotional video featuring another beloved character from the world of The Addams Family – Thing. This character being released sparked up viewers to watch 'Wednesday' and gained so many more fans for this show just through one post. This proves bigger is always better doesn't always have to be the only method for advertising through movies, where in other cases it can simply be a merely post about a character that can go viral.
