Film Editing Transitions Blog Entry
Film transitions are different kinds of transitional swipes that help the scene flow easier by transitioning to the next scene. This allows the film to be more enhanced as it plays a huge role on how much transitions can effect a scene. Transitions are used in film editing because when jumping from scene to scene, or even between cuts in a movie, the way the transition is made makes the scene successful or interrupted. Theoretically, transitions convey the passage of time, character movement, pauses, story developments, and stillness. They make up the movie from the first shot to the last shot. There are several common shapes such as wipes, dissolves and split cuts.
